‘Dance Moms’ 13-Year-Old Star To Pen Memoir, Fiction Trilogy

maddie-ziegler-435Some people spend their entire lives writing to pen the perfect book. For Maddie Zeigler, it only took 13  years. But wait. That is her entire life considering the Dance Moms star is just 13  years old.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Zeigler is working on writing both a memoir and a YA trilogy about dance for Gallery Books and Aladdin Books. The Maddie Diaries will reflect on her years starring the Lifetime reality TV show Dance Moms. It will also include advice and lessons for teens and dancers. It’s set to be released in March of 2017.

Her fiction novels will also be about — you guessed it! — young dancers. The novels are set to be released in the Fall 2017, Fall 2018 and Fall 2019.

IMHO, there will always be a market for people who want to read about dancers — whether it’s young people who dream of being professional dancers or those — like me — who used to dance and feel a sense of nostalgia when they read books about it (see Astonish Me).

Zeigler is a famous dancer, best known for Dance Moms and for playing mini-Sia in many of popstar Sia’s music videos and performances. Currently Zeigler is a judge on the kids version of So You Think You Can Dance.

Danielle Fishel (‘Topanga’) To Release Memoir

Everyone loves Topanga. And while she’s set to return to the world of television in the Boy Meets World spinoff next year, the story about the actress who plays her will be coming to a bookshelf near you.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Danielle Fishel is writing a memoir. Titled Normally, This Would Be Cause for Concern: Tales of Calamity and Unrelenting Awkwardness, the memoir will include details about Fishel’s audition experiences, red carpet moments and wedding planning disasters.

In the press release about the memoir, she wrote “Life is an incredible, and often embarrassing, journey and I can’t wait to share my experiences in Normally, This Would Be Cause for Concern. Get ready to laugh with me (or at me — that’s okay, too!).”

The memoir, published by Gallery Books (a Simon & Schuster imprint), is expected to be released in the fall of 2014.

Amanda Knox’s Ex Gets A Book Deal

Amanda Knox may have her own $4 million dollar book deal, but now her ex-boyfriend has one too. Broken up or not, Knox’s ex, Raffaele Sollecito — the Italian student she dated while studying abroad — will forever be associated with Knox. They both served four years in Italian prison for the murder of Knox’s roommate, but were ultimately acquitted.

And now Sollecito’s putting that popular-by-association status to work, by writing a memoir for Gallery Books. According to this article by The New York Times, details of the deal have not been disclosed. But Presume Guilty: My Journey to Hell and Back with Amanda Knox is set to be published sometime this fall. And publishers have no doubt that it will be successful, as Julie Bosman reports.

“Raffaele Sollecito is a young man who spent four years in prison standing up for a woman he had known for a few weeks,” said Jennifer Bergstrom, editor in chief of Gallery Books. “I’m fascinated by his story and I think readers will be too.”

Bergstrom makes a good point. Not to mention: you put “Amanda Knox” in the title of anything, and people will be sure to read it.
